About the Department of English

Department of English is one of the oldest departments of the college and was established in 1968 during the establishment of the college. The Department of English aims to impart the knowledge of English language and literature. Since the beginning, the faculty of department of English are motivated to improve the communication skills, analytical skills, create cultural awareness and develop morals and ethics within the students. Thus making them professionally fit for employment and responsible citizens. The faculty of English teach General English for students of all the Undergraduate courses offered by the college offered in first and second semesters. An Undergraduate course in Special English with History and Political Science was offered for students of Under Graduation from 2019 to 2022. A Single Major course in Special English is being offered since 2023. The number of sanctioned posts in the department are three. Department of English has two linkages at present. It organizes various activities to develop English language skills among students through The English Club which was formed in 2021. Department of English offers Certificate courses and coaching for entrance examinations for various universities each year for the students. 

Vision

The mainstay vision of Department of English of is to develop the Department into a center of excellence through teaching and research that encourages literary sensibility, language competence and professional skills. 

Mission

1.To transmit the knowledge of English language and literature.

2.To impart basic communication skills in English to the first generation learners coming from rural background.

3.To provide students with adequate communication skills to capacitate the students to excel in professional life and communicate effectively in the society.
